ROOT
M U L A D H A R A
‘Root of existence.’
The first chakra is symbolised by the lotus flower with four petals and the colour red. This chakra forms the foundation of the survival instinct. It is concerned with all the basic needs such as food, shelter, sleep and self-presevation.
It grounds to the earth and anchors life energy into the world as such. A balanced root chakra creates a solid foundation for the six chakras above. Anxiety, nightmares and sudden fear are indicators of an unbalanced root chakra.
Physical symptoms may include constipation, lower back pain, and prostate issues. Activities that promote a healthy root chakra include things like hiking, gardening, cooking, the outdoors and anything that connects you with nature.
