ALTAR TO THOSE PAST
Grieving takes time. Honour the process by crating a scared space for the energy you have lost, an altar to reflect you love to them.
NEED TO KNOW
BENEFITS: Sorrow is something to be experienced and honoured, not avoided. By creating a mourningful ritual, you allow yourself to feel it fully. You give yourself time and permission to heal and absorb yours emotions, allowing grief to become an opportunity for growth.
Traditional cultures use ceremony to help those left behind endure the period after losing a loved one, but in todays modern world mourning can be a painfully shapeless time. Creating a shrine or alter keeps the treasured person close as you navigate your grief and emotions.
TIME: 49 days
WHEN: as needed
NEEDED: mementos, rosemary, rose quartz, inscense and a candle
AFFIRM: I allow myself to feel this fully, to be here. I am patient with my healing process.
THE PROCESS
Choose or create a space and add momentos of the person or pet - photos, jewellery, letters or cards, written affirmations, anything that reminds you of them.
Add sprigs of rosemary for remembrance and rose quartz or amethyst crystals to help transmute the energy. Diffuse orange essential oils to uplift the spirits.
Each day light the candle and/or incense and spend some time at the alter, remembering them.
In Buddhist tradition ceremonies are carried out for 49 days after death - but do what feels right for you.
Alternatively you could plant a tree for this person and visit it as much as you need.
